Jan Ullrich returns to compete in the Mallorca 312

Jan Ullrich will feel like a cyclist again at 46 this Sunday in the Mallorca 312 test, a long distance test that runs through a large part of the Mallorcan island and where local cyclist Mavi García will wear the honorific number 312 of the test, which returns more than two years later after the 2020 edition was canceled due to the pandemic.

It is unknown in what type of distance Ullrich will compete: if in the longest (312 kilometers), the intermediate (225 kilometers) or the short (167 kilometers), since the participants can make this decision the same day of the test. In Mallorca 312 Ullrich will coincide with other great figures of cycling such as Alberto Contador, Óscar Freire or Joseba Beloki, one of his great rivals in the Tour de France with Lance Armstrong, as pointed out by the Mallorcan media Ultima Hora.

Ullrich, who resides in Mallorca with his partner and where he is rehabilitating after his problems with alcohol and drugs that ended up getting him into new scandals in Germany in 2018. It was recently news for Lance Armstrong’s visit to Mallorca at the end of September. In fact, in an interview with Armstrong’s podcast ‘The Move’, the German revealed that in 2018 he was “just like Pantani, close to death” and that the American’s visit when he was going through the hardest made him very happy. Overcome this ordeal, Ullrich gets back on his bike this Sunday to feel like a cyclist again for a day.
