Jhanvi Kapoor will be making her South debut with Jr NTR in their upcoming film Devara: Part 1. The actress will be seen in a Telugu film for the first time. Recently, Jhanvi shared her working experience in the South African film industry. At the same time, he described it as a “homecoming.” Jhanvi compared her South debut with her mother and late actress Sridevi's Bollywood debut and shared the problems she faced for not knowing Hindi.
In an interview with Film Companion, Jhanvi Kapoor said about working in South film Devara, “It's very fun, I'm enjoying it.” I think I've reached a point where after all these films in which dying in the freezer, dislocating my shoulder or acting like a rat, realizing that I give myself permission to do what I know and what I know feels like a drama. Dialogues, dance and just fun.
Jhanvi further said, “The kind of roles that I have grown up with, that I enjoy and love, finally I get to play anything in this film.” I feel like I'm taking it easy and allowing myself to enjoy it . I think this is the perfect film for that. The Bawal actress also compared herself with mother Sridevi's Bollywood career and shared how people even started calling her 'parrot'.
Jhanvi says, “It's quite ironic because when she (Sridevi) started making Hindi films, she didn't know this language and they called her 'parrot.'” She listened to the dialogues and repeated them and she was very good at it. She felt a kind of strangeness in this environment and now I am going to Telugu cinema. I don't know the language at all and only know Tamil phonetically. I record my dialogues and my DOP Randy (Rathnavelu) calls me “tape recorder”. Now I feel like I understand what they did and I feel at home.
