J-Rod could return to the Mariners this weekend

Mariners rookie sensation Julio Rodriguez has no problem holding a bat. However, he still “feels a little (the right wrist injury) with the vibration” when making contact.

The quisqueyano could be activated as early as Wednesday, when he will be eligible to come off the disabled list. But this weekend’s series at Arlington looks like a better option.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said the rookie won’t need to go through a minor league rehab assignment.

Rodríguez was removed from the lineup for the July 31 game after taking a pitch to the right hand the day before in the eighth leg of Seattle’s game against the Astros. The slugger stayed in action to play defense in the bottom of the inning, but was removed for a pinch hitter when his turn at bat came in the ninth.
