Itzulia will be decided in Eibar

The Eibar Town Hall Plenary Hall hosted the presentation of the 6th stage of Itzulia 2023, in which the mayor, Jon Iraola, the Councilor for Sports, Ander Curiel, the president of OCETA, Julián Eraso, and Itzulia’s technical director, Roberto Laiseka. This last stage of the race, which will start and finish in Eibar on April 8, will have a 137.8-kilometre route and more than 3,600 meters of unevenness. In this sense, it is necessary to point out that the end will not be in Arrate, as in previous editions, but that the cyclists will see the finish line in the urban center (see all the stages of Itzulia 2023).

This is the queen stage of the 2023 edition, with a total of 7 scoring ports, 3 of them first-class. Thus, the ports of Azurki, Gorla and Krabelin will be raised again. The latter, with its steep slopes, will be able to sentence the race again, as has happened in previous years. The penultimate port of the day will be Ixua, which, after several years without being part of the Itzulia route, will once again see the cyclists pass by. In the words of the mayor, Jon Iraola, “as mayor of a city so linked to cycling and in which this sport is part of our industrial and historical heritage, we are proud that, once again, Eibar is the location of the most decisive stage of Itzulia.

Despite the fact that this year we will not enjoy the finish line in Arrate, it will still be just as exciting to see how the cyclists put themselves to the test in one of the most demanding races and, in addition, we managed to bring cycling even closer, bringing it to the center of our city. From the Eibar City Hall, We will continue betting on bringing to our city this very important race of the cycling calendar.”

For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Ander Curiel, pointed out that “this race is one more example of why Eibar has been chosen European City of Sport 2023. Our city is the cradle of cycling and, therefore, we will always bet on bringing the highest category competitions of this sport discipline.” Finally, the president of OCETA, Julián Eraso, “we are very happy that Eibar continues to bet on top-level cycling and welcomes us in what will be the final of Itzulia 2023. Eibar is and has been very important for cycling both Basque as an international and we love being able to continue coming and continuing to organize races of the highest level.”
