Tamil actor Arya’s home was raided by the income tax department on Tuesday morning. The action was taken as part of a financial investigation related to his ‘Sea Shell’ restaurant. According to sources, Arya had sold the restaurant to Kerala-based businessman Kunhi Moosa, whose properties were already under the income tax department’s radar. This suggests that the raid might be part of a broader financial investigation.
Arya launched ‘Sea Shell’ in 2007, and it’s known for its Malayali and Arabic cuisine. Although he sold the restaurant, the income tax department’s action indicates a thorough investigation into the restaurant’s financial transactions and ownership. People close to Arya claim he’s cooperating fully and isn’t involved in any wrongdoing. This incident points to a significant financial controversy in the Tamil film industry, raising questions about the roles of actors and businessmen.
Arya, originally from Kerala, began his career in Tamil cinema with ‘Arinthum Ariyamalum’ and quickly became a leading star. His performances in films like ‘Pattiyal’, ‘Nan Kadavul’, ‘Madrasapattinam’, ‘Boss Engira Bhaskaran’, ‘Avan Ivan’, ‘Vettai’, ‘Raja Rani’, and ‘Arrambam’ earned him popularity. In addition to acting, Arya has also worked as a producer, starting with Malayalam films and later producing Tamil projects. His recent production, ‘DD Next Level’, didn’t perform as expected. Currently, Arya is acting in Pa. Ranjith’s film ‘Vettuvam’ and is also part of ‘Mr. X’ and ‘Aandavan Kaadu’.
