Atmah: US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the head of the Islamic State group was killed in an attack by US special forces in Syria late last night. The attack targeted Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi, who took over the reins of the terrorist organization on 31 October 2019 after Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in a US attack in the same area.
Qureshi died just like Baghdadi
A US official said that al-Qureshi died in the same way as Baghdadi himself killed his family members by detonating a bomb when US troops arrived. Witnesses said US special forces landed in a rebel-held area in Syria and raided a house, clashing with gunmen for two hours.
13 died including 6 children, 4 women
Residents of the area said that the town of Atmah, located on the Turkish border, was shaken by the continuous firing and explosions. According to the information received, 13 people including 6 children and 4 women have been killed. Biden said in a statement that he ordered this attack “to protect the American people and our allies and to make the world a safer place.”
