An Israeli court has allowed Jews to worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque. The ruling raised concerns about the Israeli occupation of Al-Aqsa Mosque, while the Palestinian Authority protested strongly against the decision.

At the request of Israeli settler Rabbi Areh Lipo, Jews were allowed to worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

An Israeli magistrate has ordered police not to criminalize or stop Jews from worshiping at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Under a 1994 agreement between Oman and Israel, Jews were not allowed to worship in the precincts of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Jews could worship on the nearby Western Wall.

Jordan, the custodian of Al-Aqsa Mosque, called the Israeli court’s decision a violation of the Amman and Tel Aviv peace agreements.

The head of the Palestinian Authority, Ibrahim Shatih, also protested. He called on the United States to play its part in preventing the entry of Jews into certain areas. He also called on Arab countries to stand in solidarity with the Palestinians.
