Israel blamed for killing Palestinian journalist

Geneva: The United Nations has blamed Israel for the killing of slain Palestinian journalist Shirin Abu Aqila, saying the shots were fired by Israeli forces.

According to international media, the United Nations has said that the information it has gathered shows that Al Jazeera journalist Shirin Abu Aqila was shot dead by Israeli forces on May 11.

“All the information we have gathered is consistent with the fact that Abu Aqila was killed and that The shots were fired by Israeli security forces, not by gunmen
From the firing of Palestinians.

Al Jazeera journalist Shirin Abu Aqila was killed by Israeli forces while covering a military raid on Jenin in the occupied West Bank, sparking outrage among Palestinians and around the world.

Israeli police later attacked his funeral procession, causing Abu Aqila’s coffin to almost fall to the ground.

Several eyewitnesses say Israeli forces killed the veteran reporter, and investigations by several media outlets have reached the same conclusion.

Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, initially tried to argue that Palestinian gunmen could kill Abu Aqila. However, the Israelis later retreated, saying they could not rule out the possibility that the bullet had been fired by an Israeli soldier.

Israel has not yet concluded whether anyone will face criminal charges for the killings, nor has it released the results of an internal investigation.

Al Jazeera Media Network announced on May 26 that it had formed a legal team to try the case, which will be referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.
