Israel begins vaccinating children between the ages of five and eleven against COVID-19

The Israeli health authorities reported this Monday that they have begun to vaccinate minors between five and eleven years of age against the coronavirus.

Although the campaign for this age group was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, health workers have already begun to supply the vaccines, according to information from the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.

This same Monday, the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the biotechnology company BioNTech have affirmed that the vaccine continues to be 100 percent effective for children between twelve and fifteen years old.

The data collected support that the vaccine is effective for these minors four months after the second dose is given. In addition, no serious health problems have been reported from the vaccine.

"As the international community works to increase the number of people vaccinated around the world, these data provide confidence in the safety of our vaccines and their effectiveness in vaccinating adolescents.", said the CEO of Pfizer, Albert Bourla, in a statement.

For him, this is especially important since a "increased infections among people of this age group in many parts of the world".
