Isidre Esteve Foundation Grand Prix 2024: A Complete Success Review

Barcelona, Spain – The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya played host to the sixth edition of the Isidre Esteve Foundation Grand Prix, a celebration of inclusive sport that aimed to promote values of inclusion and respect for people with disabilities.

The day kicked off with children’s awareness-raising activities, led by renowned Catalan journalist and scriptwriter Eloi Vila. This interactive session involved games and workshops designed to promote the values of inclusion and respect, with 80 children taking part and enjoying sports experiences that simulated the challenges faced by people with disabilities.

In the afternoon, the relay race, one of the highlights of the event, took center stage. A total of 40 mixed teams comprising people with and without disabilities completed three laps of the 4,657-meter circuit, with outstanding athletes such as Laia Sanz, Nani Roma, Àlex Crivillé, Carlos Checa, and Iván Cervantes taking part. The Innovit team finished first, crossing the finish line in 22 minutes and 39 seconds, while Flying Tandem and Eleven 10 took second and third places, respectively.

The incorporation of the Eleven project, which features 11 tandems, brought a new and exciting dimension to the event, allowing more people to participate and enjoy the experience of racing on the circuit.

“For many, this is the most important day of the year,” said Isidre Esteve, president of the Isidre Esteve Foundation. “It’s a time for us to come together, to show what we do, and to celebrate with friends and family.”

The day concluded with a charity dinner on the circuit’s straight, which was attended by 270 guests, including comedian and impersonator Pep Plaza, who served as master of ceremonies. The event raised awareness and funds to support the Isidre Esteve Foundation’s Bridge Centers, which work to improve the quality of life of people with mobility problems or in vulnerable situations.

The Isidre Esteve Foundation Grand Prix has once again fulfilled its mission of promoting inclusive sport and normalizing the participation of people with disabilities in sports. The event received the valuable support of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, RPM Sports, Events, Promoter, KH-7, Fundació DAMM, Toyota España, DOGA, Ballestas JJM, Catering l’Empordà, and Mediagé Comunicación.
