The Bidding Process
The IPL 2025 auction saw intense bidding among the 10 teams, with many players being sold for record-breaking prices. Ishan Kishan was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹11.25 crore, with his base price being ₹2 crore.
Mumbai Indians’ Decision
Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan’s former team, did not retain him before the auction and only retained five players, including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Verma. During the auction, Mumbai Indians stopped bidding on Kishan after the price reached ₹3.20 crore.

Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians captain, shared a video message expressing his thoughts on Ishan Kishan’s departure. Pandya acknowledged that it would be challenging to bring Kishan back to the team due to his exceptional talent.
