An Iranian military spokesperson publicly warned the United Arab Emirates on March 14, 2026, that its ports, docks, and locations designated as “American hideouts” are potential targets for military strikes.
The explicit threat follows a series of United States military strikes that heavily damaged Kharg Island, Iran’s primary oil export hub. The region remains in a state of active, multi-front conflict involving widespread airspace closures, mass flight cancellations, and severe disruptions to global oil shipments.
In retaliation for the US strikes on Kharg Island, Tehran stated it would reduce US-linked oil facilities to a “pile of ashes.”
The regional escalation intensified following February 28, 2026, resulting in civilian and military casualties across the Middle East. Intensified Iranian attacks have already targeted locations across the Gulf, with a fire recently breaking out at the UAE’s major Fujairah oil hub.
Additionally, the heavily fortified US embassy compound in Baghdad sustained damage and fires from recent missile strikes. As the conflict broadens, the deployment of additional Marines and naval assets to the region continues.

Iran has restricted access to the Strait of Hormuz, an essential global shipping lane. Iranian officials stated the strait will not be reopened to US ships, though limited Indian shipping was recently permitted to cross.
US President Donald Trump recently shared footage of the American airstrikes on Kharg Island. In an accompanying statement regarding what he described as a “US-Israel war on Iran,” the US President claimed the United States is “way ahead of schedule” in the ongoing conflict.
