It should be noted that the Iranian government has stepped up its crackdown on the protests that began on September 16 after the death of young woman Mehsa Amini.

Demonstrators this week called for nationwide demonstrations in solidarity with Kurdistan province. Along with Sistan, Kurdistan has also been the worst hit in the security crackdown.

On the other hand, the human rights organization said that Iranian security forces have killed at least 416 people, including 51 children and 27 women, since the protests began.

This number includes 126 people killed in Sistan and 48 people killed in Kurdistan. More than 90 people were killed in a shooting in Zahedan on September 30, which protesters dubbed “Bloody Friday”.
