His statement coincided with a call by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene its 57 member countries to adopt a “unanimous response” to Sweden for the Nordic country’s authorization to desecrate the Muslim holy book.

Iran warns that it will not receive a new Swedish ambassador and will not send its own to Stockholm

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian has stated that his country will not receive a new Swedish ambassador and will not send an Iranian to Stockholm “unless the Swedish government takes serious action against the person who desecrated the holy Quran,” the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported on Saturday.

“The Swedish ambassador in Tehran has finished his term, and the president of the Islamic Republic has ordered not to receive the new Swedish ambassador unless his country’s government takes serious action against the person who offends the holy Quran,” Abdollahian was quoted as saying by IRNA.

“And we will not send our new ambassador to Sweden either,” added the Iranian, who stressed that “we have informed the Swedish government of this decision.”
