Iran: Attacks by small drones on military plant

Tehran: A military plant in Isfahan, Iran has been attacked by small drones, which Iran has foiled.

According to Iranian media, Tehran has said on Sunday that there were two explosions in a military installation in Isfahan, the central city of Iran, but there were no casualties from the explosions.

Iranian security forces say that microbirds were used in the attack, one microbird was shot down by air defenses while two were trapped by the complex’s air defense system and exploded.

According to the Iranian Ministry of Defense, there were no casualties from the explosions, the roof of the workshop was slightly damaged. Iranian officials say that an attack attempt on a workshop complex of the Ministry of Defense has been foiled.

The statement came shortly after Iranian media reported a loud explosion in Isfahan, with news agencies also releasing a video showing a flash of light at the plant, which it said was a shell. There is a munitions factory, and footage shows emergency vehicles and fire trucks outside the plant.

Reports of drone strikes in Isfahan also came as Iranian state TV also said an unexplained fire had broken out at an oil refinery in an industrial zone near the northwestern city of Tabriz. .

It should be noted that there have been a number of explosions and fires surrounding Iranian military, nuclear and industrial facilities over the past few years, amid the long-running ‘shadow war’ between Iran and Israel. The two countries are at odds over Tehran’s nuclear program, with Israel saying Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran denies.
