IPL Women: First edition of the IPL Women to be held in March 2023, BCCI window

Commonwealth Games 2022: Captain Harmanpreet Kaur's big statement ahead of match against Australia

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a big decision. In fact, the window for the first edition of the Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) has been kept in March 2023. The president of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly, is constantly trying for the women’s IPL. According to media reports, a change has been made to the Women’s Domestic Cricket Schedule for the Women’s IPL. However, the women’s domestic cricket season, which runs from November to April, has been extended by a month.

The women’s domestic cricket season will start with the T20 tournament on October 11 and end with the ODI tournament in February 2023. It should be noted that since the year 2018, BCCI organizes the Women’s T20 Challenge. However, in the first season there was a show match between the two teams. Many foreign players also participated in this tournament. In fact, for a long time, the demand to perform the women’s IPL like the men’s IPL is gaining momentum.

It is worth noting that apart from former Indian captain Mithali Raj, players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur believe that there should be a women’s IPL just like the men’s IPL. At the same time, former Indian captain Mithali Raj has expressed her desire to come out of retirement to play in this tournament. In fact, he had said in one of his interviews that I haven’t made any decision about it yet, but I have left this option open. He further said that there is not much time left in the women’s IPL, so it will be a great experience to be a part of the first edition.
