IPL Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Age Sparks Controversy Amidst Viral Claims and Video Evidence Surfaces

Rajasthan Royals player Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been making waves with his impressive performances, but a new controversy is brewing around his age. After scoring the second-fastest century in IPL history, Suryavanshi was dismissed without scoring in the next match against Mumbai Indians. Now, a viral video is casting doubt on his claimed age of 14, with some claiming he’s actually 16.

The video features two men from Samastipur, Bihar, who claim to have known Suryavanshi since he played with them. They say his father worked hard to support his cricket career, taking him to Patna for practice and hosting the locals to help him train. One of the men praises Suryavanshi’s talent, saying he’s always been a hitter, scoring sixes on the first ball in every tournament he’s played. However, they also claim that his real age is 16, not 14.

Age Controversy Surrounds Suryavanshi

Suryavanshi’s age has been a topic of discussion on social media, with many questioning the authenticity of his claimed age. In a 2023 interview, Suryavanshi himself stated that he would turn 14 in September. The controversy has sparked a heated debate among cricket fans.

Rajasthan Royals acquired Suryavanshi for ₹1.1 crore at the IPL auction. He made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants, hitting a six on the first ball. In his third match against Gujarat Titans, he achieved a remarkable feat – the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history, off just 35 balls. Suryavanshi is the youngest player in the IPL.

The controversy comes as Rajasthan Royals faces a tough time, having been eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs after losing to Mumbai Indians.
