IPL 2025 Suspended Due to India-Pakistan Tensions; Umran Malik Advised to Avoid Home

The Indian Premier League has hit a roadblock due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. As a result, the tournament has been put on hold for a week. All Indian and foreign players have been sent back home. Fast bowler Umran Malik has been advised to stay in Hyderabad for now.

Umran’s family, who live in Jammu, have asked him to avoid traveling home due to ongoing Pakistani firing along the border. Umran had joined his team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, in Hyderabad for their scheduled match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 10.

Umran’s IPL 2025 Journey

Umran was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an injury. Despite this, he traveled with the Kolkata Knight Riders team as part of a “return to cricket” program. He didn’t play a single match this season. In his IPL career so far, Umran has played 26 matches and taken 29 wickets.

Tournament Status

IPL 2025 has seen 58 matches so far, with 12 league stage matches remaining before the playoffs. There’s speculation that the remaining matches could be played after the India-England test series. However, it’s worth noting that the tournament has only been suspended for a week. The BCCI is expected to discuss the way forward with all parties involved and decide on a new schedule.
