IPL 2025: Suryakumar Enters Orange Cap Race as Purple Cap Contenders Emerge

The Indian Premier League is heating up with both batsmen and bowlers vying for the coveted Orange Cap and Purple Cap. Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav has joined the fray for the Orange Cap, having smashed 265 runs at a strike rate of 151.43 across seven matches, including 27 fours and 12 sixes. However, the current holder of the Orange Cap is LSG’s Nicholas Pooran.

Pooran leads the pack with 357 runs at an average of 59.50 and a strike rate of 208.77. Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudarshan is close behind with 329 runs. LSG’s Mitchell Marsh is third with 295 runs from six matches. Punjab Kings’ Shreyas Iyer and RCB’s Virat Kohli are fifth and sixth, respectively.

Battle for Purple Cap

CSK’s spinners have been dominating, but RCB’s Josh Hazlewood has matched Nur Ahmad’s 12 wickets. Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav has 11 wickets, while Gujarat Titans’ Prashidh Krishna, Mohammad Siraj, and Sai Kishore have 10 wickets each. With Delhi facing Gujarat today, the Purple Cap could change hands. The stage is set for an exciting showdown as these cricketers battle it out for the top honors.
