The Indian Premier League just got a last-minute twist. A venue change for one of the upcoming matches has been announced. The Royal Challengers Bangalore were set to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Now, that game will be played in Lucknow due to weather concerns.
You might recall the Royal Challengers Bangalore versus Kolkata Knight Riders match on May 17 was canceled because of rain. With more heavy rain predicted in Bangalore, the May 23 match between SRH and RCB has been moved to Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.
This change means RCB will play their last two league stage matches in Lucknow, as their final game is already scheduled against the Lucknow Super Giants in the same city. Reports say RCB management was informed about the venue change on Tuesday evening.
For RCB, this venue change could be a blessing in disguise. There’s barely any chance of rain in Lucknow in the coming days. The weather was threatening to ruin RCB’s chances of making it directly to Qualifier 1. Currently, the team is in second place on the points table with 17 points and has two matches left to play.
RCB has two games left and needs to finish in the top two on the points table to make it straight to Qualifier 1. They still have to play the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Lucknow Super Giants.
