The IPL 2025 season is heating up as it enters its final stretch, with playoffs set to begin on May 29. Cricket legend AB de Villiers has weighed in on the action, naming three players who have made the biggest impact so far. His list features one player each from the Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Notably, de Villiers left out big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
On his YouTube channel, de Villiers revealed that Sai Sudharsan, Dewald Brevis, and Josh Hazlewood have been the most impressive players in IPL 2025. He praised Sudharsan, saying, “I’ve been impressed by his top-order batting. I talked about him a few seasons ago when he played well, and I told fans that he’s an emerging star.” Sudharsan has scored 679 runs in 14 matches this season.
De Villiers also praised Hazlewood, who has played a crucial role in helping RCB reach the playoffs. The bowler has taken 18 wickets in 10 matches. Meanwhile, Brevis, nicknamed “Junior AB de Villiers,” has been impressive for the Chennai Super Kings, scoring 225 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 180.
As for Kohli, he has had a solid season, scoring 548 runs in 12 matches, including seven half-centuries. Rohit Sharma has scored 321 runs in 13 matches. Despite their performances, they didn’t make de Villiers’ list of top players.
