Along with this, it has now also been confirmed that IPL 2022 will be played in the country under the shadow of Corona. IPL Season 15 will start from March 26. This decision was made at the IPL Governing Council meeting on Thursday.
Indian Premier League chairman Brijesh Patel revealed in a conversation with cricket website Cricbuzz that the tournament will start on March 26. The final match will be played on May 29.
The good news for cricket fans is that there will be no matches in the empty stadium this time. This means that spectators will be allowed into the stadium during matches. However, it has not yet been decided what percentage of people will be able to go to the stadium. Actually, their decision during the league round will be made as per Maharashtra government rules. However, at least 25 or 50 percent of the spectators will be present in the stadium.
At the IPL Governing Council meeting it has been decided that in the league phase 55 matches will be played in Mumbai and 15 in Pune. All league matches will be played in four stadiums. 20 matches will be played at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium, 15 matches at Brabourne Stadium and 15 matches at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium in Pune. However, no information about the play-off matches has yet been revealed.
A total of 10 teams will participate in IPL 2022. In light of this, BCCI has changed the format of the tournament. For IPL 2022, 10 teams have been divided into two groups. There will be five more teams in Group A and five teams in Group B. One team will play at least 14 games in the group stage. Each team will have the opportunity to play against each other twice in their group. Two games will have to be played against any team from the other group.
