iPhone 17 to Feature 45W Wireless Charging

Apple is gearing up to launch its latest flagship series, the iPhone 17, in September 2025. One of the key features getting a major boost is wireless charging. Reports indicate that Apple’s MagSafe charger is being upgraded to support faster and more efficient charging. This could be a significant move, pushing other smartphone brands to follow suit.

The news comes from 91 Mobiles, which spotted two new MagSafe chargers – A3503 and A3502 – on Taiwan’s National Communications Commission database. These chargers have the same design as the current MagSafe charger that launched with the iPhone 16. However, they support the new Qi 2.2 standard, which offers more powerful charging up to 50W. The magnets are also rearranged for more precise and efficient charging.

What’s new with MagSafe?

The new MagSafe chargers can deliver up to 45W of power when used with a Power Delivery charger. This is a significant upgrade from the iPhone 16’s 25W wireless charging and the Samsung Galaxy S25’s 15W wireless charging. If this rumor pans out, it would be a major leap forward for Apple’s wireless charging capabilities.

Why faster wireless charging matters

Faster wireless charging can be a game-changer for people who are always on the go. It means less time spent waiting for your phone to charge and more time getting things done. With many Android flagship phones already offering fast wireless charging, Apple needs to step up its game to stay competitive.
