iPhone 17 Pro Leaked Image Confirms Larger Camera Module Design

Apple is famous for its strict secrets. The company works hard to keep new iPhone designs hidden. It’s rare for anyone outside Apple to see upcoming models before their official launch day.

But recently, a popular tipster on X, known as Fox Pupy (@Skyfops), shared some photos. These pictures show a man holding two iPhones. The photos were taken in Union Square, a busy area in San Francisco, California.

One of the phones looks like an iPhone 16 Pro. It has a special sticker, a Data Matrix Code. This sticker is a common sign. It shows the device is an Apple employee unit, used for testing or internal purposes.

What really caught everyone’s eye was the second iPhone. This phone seems to be the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, set to launch in 2025. It was wrapped in a very thick, dark case. This case was clearly meant to hide its true design. Even so, a few details peeked through. The LED flash and the LiDAR sensor had moved. They now sit in the upper corner of the rear camera module.

These photos match up with earlier rumors. They also fit unofficial design images that have popped up online. Those leaks suggested Apple plans to make the iPhone 17 Pro’s rear camera module much wider. It might even stretch across the entire width of the phone’s back panel.

Given these clear signs, top tech reporter Mark Gurman from Bloomberg agreed. He shared his view that the device shown in the photos is indeed the real iPhone 17 Pro.

Previous reports from MacRumors gave us more clues about the iPhone 17 Pro. The phone is expected to get a better telephoto camera. It might offer 8x optical zoom, a big jump from the 5x zoom on the iPhone 16 Pro. There might also be a new “Camera Control” button. This button would make it easier to manage camera settings while taking photos. Plus, all three rear cameras could get a boost. They might all feature 48-megapixel sensors.

Apple plans to release four new flagship phones in the iPhone 17 series. These will include the standard iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Air (which replaces the Plus lineup), the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. We can expect these new models to arrive in September 2025.
