iPhone 14: All models will have this popular feature

Apple has yet to showcase the iPhone 13, but there are already rumors that show what to expect from the next generation. The alleged iPhone 14 is highlighted again in a report from South Korea.

The Elec website reports a change in Korean LG that will have repercussions on Apple smartphones for 2022. Indeed, it is expected that all iPhone 14s will be developed with a screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

This will be one of the main novelties of the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. This pair will be the only pair, in 2021, in Apple’s smartphone portfolio to offer an LTPO display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

These panels will be supplied by Samsung, using the same technology the South Korean uses in its high end. Next year, however, Apple will be able to expand the range of suppliers for this technology.

LG’s entry into the market for developing displays with LTPO technology will help. The South Korean will be in the final phase of talks with an external supplier of these components, leaving Apple’s approval for the creation of a production line.

This production line will focus on the development of LTPO panels for Apple equipment. The American company will thus be able to acquire the quantities necessary to meet its needs and reduce its dependence on Samsung.

LG will be in charge of building the screens for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Mini. The Pro models will continue to be supported by components developed by Samsung, however, the door is not closed to the entry of its compatriot in the process.

That’s entirely plausible given Apple’s usual policy. It is customary for the Cupertino-based company to introduce technology into the Pro models and, the following year, transpose it to the rest.

While we’re still a long way from the iPhone 14 launch, I think it’s a rumor that will come true. It doesn’t matter who supplies LTPO displays to Apple, the next generation should be guided, among other things, by its ProMotion displays.
