iPhone 13: Here’s why it’s more valuable than iPhone 12

A new report from the entity SellCell comes to show the value that the iPhone 13 retains in the market after its launch. The findings reveal that Apple’s new smartphone has lost even less value compared to the iPhone 12.

We all know that the iPhone is the smartphone that loses the least value in the market after its launch. This trend is even more accentuated in the case of the iPhone 13 due to the current situation that affects its availability for sale.

Component shortage boosts iPhone 13 valuation

Unsurprisingly, SellCell blames the current shortage of components for the overvaluation of the iPhone 13. Since many users are struggling to buy a unit of this device, it is only natural that copies in the hands of users are even more valuable.

iPhone 13

Compared to iPhone 12, iPhone 13 lost less than half of its valuation during the first two months after your purchase. It is also Apple’s model with the lowest devaluation in this range, with a loss in value of only 25.5%.

This study shows that if you want to sell your iPhone 13 now, it will be worth much more than any of its predecessors under the same conditions. In other words, the shortage of components not only penalizes those who are looking for a new iPhone, but also those who are looking for one in the used market.

Not only does the iPhone 13 take longer to lose value, it also manages to recover something from the initial aftermarket crash. The one that recovers the most value is the iPhone 13 of 128GB with a rate of 1.8%.

Next comes the version with 512GB of storage with a 1.7% recovery value, while the 1TB version recovers 1.7%. The iPhone 13 Mini breaks this pattern due to its inability to regain value after launch.

Going forward, SellCell doubts that the iPhone 14 can replicate what we are now releasing for the iPhone 13. This is because the entity expects the component shortage not to drag on until 2022/2023.
