iOS 26 to Bring New Features to Messages, CarPlay, and More

Next week, Apple’s big reveal is coming. Expect a major visual overhaul of their operating system, a big name change, and lots of new features across all their systems.

Rumors are swirling about what’s new in iOS 26. Apple usually brings over 100 new features, from minor tweaks to big innovations.

This time, the focus is on a new look, but there are also quiet improvements to everyday apps like Messages, Music, Notes, and CarPlay. Some of these might be announced as soon as next week.

Here are five potential new features coming to iOS 26:

Messages Get Smarter

Automatic translation is coming to Messages. This means you can chat with people who speak a different language. You can already translate messages, but it’s a few extra steps. With iOS 26, it’s instant.

You’ll also be able to create polls in Messages, just like on WhatsApp and Telegram. And, Apple’s AI might even help create the poll for you based on what you’re talking about.

Music Gets a Fresh Look

The Music app is getting some love, especially on the lock screen. You’ll see animated album covers while your music plays.

Notes Get Markdown Support

You’ll be able to export text from Notes in Markdown format. This might not mean much to most people, but it’s a useful feature for some.

CarPlay Gets a Makeover

CarPlay’s interface is changing to match the new iOS 26 design. This design is based on visionOS, the operating system for Apple’s Vision Pro.

What to Expect from WWDC25

Apple’s big conference is on June 9. They’ll announce big updates for iOS 26, macOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, and more. This year, it’s all about the new design and features people have been waiting for, like better window management on iPad.
