One of the novelties that the more sophisticated models of the iPhone 13 have introduced is the 120 Hz ProMotion screen.
However, so far, the animations of 3rd party apps were limited to 60Hz and couldn’t take full advantage of the higher refresh rate.
At that time, Apple claimed that this was due to a bug that would be fixed in a future update. The good news is that the problem seems to have been fixed, according to the developer Christian Selig.
In the beta version of iOS 15.4, Third-party app animations can take full advantage of the 120Hz ProMotion display on iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.
This means that once this update reaches users, the visual experience of third-party apps should be no different than those found in Apple’s own apps.
No word on when iOS 15.4 will be released to the public, but with it available in beta, we are closer to its final release.
Yay, I got a little message from someone at Apple today that this was fixed in iOS 15.4 betas and all apps automatically get 120 Hz animations on supported iPhones going forward, and I just confirmed it. (See attachment, 1/120 = 8.33ms) https://t.co/EtZ9zkrM6S pic.twitter.com/04cl8uLb11
