Introduces phased system for reopening schools in UAE

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee in the United Arab Emirates has announced the introduction of a new phased system for reopening schools based on the rate of vaccination.

According to the international website, the committee has approved the Blue School initiative based on the rate of vaccination to soften Corona SOPs and restore normal operations.

This will be implemented from the second session of the current academic year. Students and staff of schools with higher vaccination rates will be allowed to gradually relax SOPs.

These include reducing social distance requirements, easing mask protocols, increasing the scope of classes and school transport, and reviving extracurricular activities, including events and field trips within schools.

Under the new initiative, schools have been divided into four categories.

In the first category, Orange School where less than 50% of the students have been vaccinated, Yellow School where 50 to 60% of the students have been vaccinated, Green School where 65 to 84% of the students have been vaccinated and Blue School where more than 85%. Students have been vaccinated.
