Inter Milan Defeats Roma 1-0, Ties For Serie A Lead

Inter Milan climbed into a three-way tie for the top of Italy’s Serie A standings on Saturday after a narrow victory over AS Roma, while defending champions Napoli slipped further back, setting up a potential sole leadership bid for AC Milan.

Inter secured a 1-0 win over Roma in the seventh round of the Italian league. French midfielder Bonny scored the decisive goal for Inter Milan in just the sixth minute of play. Swiss goalkeeper Sommer also made several key saves to deny Roma an equalizer.

This result propelled Inter Milan to 15 points. They now sit level with Napoli and AC Milan at the summit of the table.

Napoli, the reigning champions, suffered a 1-0 defeat on their visit to Torino. Argentine Giovanni Simeone netted the winning goal for Torino in the 32nd minute. This marks Napoli’s second loss in their last three league fixtures.

Torino’s victory moved them up to 13th place in the league standings.

The weekend’s results create a tense situation at the top. AC Milan, currently on 15 points, will host Fiorentina on Sunday. A win in that match would give AC Milan 16 points, allowing them to claim sole possession of first place.
