Intec students will be able to participate in productive processes of industries

The MMinistry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), the National Office of Industrial Property (Onapi), the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (Intec) and the Association of Industrial Companies of Herrea (ANEIH) signed an agreement that will allow students of the career of Industrial Design and Engineering of Intec participate in the productive processes of the industries for the execution of products by way of industrial designs.
 
This initiative, whose objective isencourage the development of innovative products and tools in local manufacturing industries,is named “Design with Industry Program” and it is carried out with a view to improving the country’s national and international innovation indicators.

The signature of the inter-institutional collaboration agreement It was in charge of the Minister of Industry, Víctor Bisonó Haza; the president of the AEIH, Noel Ureña; the director of Onapi, Salvador Ramos, and the rector of the Intec, Julio Sánchez.

The agreement, that lasts for two years and stipulates that the ANEIH must identify industries capable of cooperating and that can work hand in hand with the students of the Intec and manage letters of commitment from participating industries.

The students of the Intec shall carry out a survey and mapping of the productive processes of the industrys, in order to identify product design improvements.

In addition, together with the industries selected by the ANEIH, they must develop industrial designs and carry out at least one test of its functionality within the industry, where the necessary conditions are available to carry it out.

They should also conduct feasibility testing of proposed industrial designs within the industries and / or at the Intec Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI-INTEC).

While the Onapi and the MICM will support in the processes of registration of protectable industrial designs, devised and conceptualized within the framework of the program, if applicable. Likewise, the MICM and Onapi will coordinate and carry out a seminar on the identification of protectable industrial designs.
