KABUL: The Afghan Taliban has banned broadcasters from casting female actors in dramas, while making it mandatory for women journalists to wear the hijab.
According to foreign media, the Afghan Taliban, after taking over government affairs, have enacted new rules for broadcasters, under which TV channels will be banned from broadcasting sketches of the Prophet of Islam and holy figures.
Under the new rules, Afghan TV channels will not be able to cast women in dramas, while women journalists will have to wear the hijab to carry out their duties.
A spokesman for the Taliban government said the laws enacted by the Islamic Emirate were in fact Islamic and Afghan values and that films, dramas and programs against those values would be banned.
Social media users have criticized the Afghan Taliban’s move, saying the Taliban have banned women from working in films, dramas and theaters, and foolish politicians think the Taliban have changed.
#Taliban bans women & girls to act and role in movies, #theater, Cinema & TV series. Taliban’s religious ministry states the new regulations against women today. Still there are many western politicians who really fooled by Taliban thinking they are changed !!
