Instagram announces the arrival of NFTs to the social network

The growing interest in the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain has highlighted the phenomenon of NFTs. These non-expendable items are becoming more and more popular and the social network Instagram does not want to ignore this trend.

It was through the voice of Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, and Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, that the arrival of NFTs on the social network became known. The first tests of these digital items begin this week.

Instagram welcomes the phenomenon of NFT’s on its social platform

The first social network of the Meta group to receive the NFT’s will be Instagram. This novelty will help creators and collectors to display their records not expendable in this social network.

The tests of this novelty begin this week with some users based in the United States. This is a very limited trial period that will allow Instagram to test the implementation and success of NFTs on their platform.

Other markets are also expected to receive support for NFT once this test period ends. However, the executives did not clarify when this expansion will take place.

Participants in this experimental phase will be able to share their own or purchased NFTs in the Instagram feed, Stories and messages. Practice that will have no associated cost.

In fact, these digital collectibles can be displayed to the public on one of the most successful social networks today. The social network most dedicated to photography is thus one of the first centralized platforms to host these non-centralized elements.

Facebook will also receive NFT

Mark Zuckerberg took the opportunity to express his interest in migrating NFTs to the social network Facebook as well. Although he has not released a timetable for the feat, the executive says that this will happen soon.

This will be the group’s second platform to host these digital collectibles. Zuckerberg says that two more platforms in his group will also receive NFT support, without revealing which ones.
