Infotep will train those who care for people who cannot help themselves

The National Institute of Professional Technical Training (Infotep) and the Ibero-American Social Security Organization (OISS), signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement, which will allow the training for those who care for people in a situation of dependency, with the interest of improving their quality of life.

The document was signed by the general director of Infotep, Rafael Santos Badía, and the general secretary of the OISS, Gina Magnolia Riaño Barón and as witnesses of honor, the Dominican Labor Minister, Luis Miguel De Camps, and Patricio Melero Abaroa, minister of Labor of Chile.

Rafael Santos Badía explained that this agreement, valid for one year, seeks humanize the work of caring for those who cannot take care of themselves pTo do your daily activities.

“We are working to make this a professional activity, recognized by the Ministry of Labor, adequately paid and with the corresponding social protection guarantees,” said Santos Badía.

Riaño Barón explained that for the OISS it is a source of satisfaction to sign an agreement that meets the fundamental objectives of that international organization, among which are coverage and social protection for the elderly and their caregivers.

“For caregivers of dependent people, training represents a great employment opportunity, although we must recognize that we have a challenge in Latin America to formalize these workers and incorporate them into social security, “he said.

Punctual training
The agreement is effective immediately and begins with the Basic Course on Care for People in a Dependency Situation, with a duration of 25 hours, and taught through the OISS Virtual Campus.

At the end of the training, the participant will have basic notions about gerontology, dependency, disability and comprehensive care person-centered.

In addition, you will be able to distinguish basic symptoms of sanitary emergency and mental health, as well as perform small cures, take vital signs and administration of medications prescribed by health professionals, without replacing health professionals in any case.

This knowledge, as well as others acquired during the training, will allow more efficient communication with the dependent person, but also with their relatives, impacting on the quality of life of the family.
