India’s Young Guns Set for ODI Debut Before Champions Trophy

The Indian cricket team is gearing up for the upcoming ODI series and the Champions Trophy. With the World Test Championship final out of reach, the team is focusing on winning another ICC title. The Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan, will see the Indian team play all their matches in Dubai. The schedule has been released, and the team is preparing for the tournament. Meanwhile, young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been performing well in T20 Internationals and Tests, may get a chance to make his ODI debut before the Champions Trophy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Impressive Performance

Yashasvi Jaiswal has played 19 Test matches, scoring 1798 runs with four centuries and 10 half-centuries. His average in Tests is around 52. In T20 Internationals, he has played 23 matches, scoring 723 runs with one century and five half-centuries. Despite his impressive performance, Jaiswal is yet to make his ODI debut for India.

Backup Opener for Champions Trophy

There is a possibility that Yashasvi Jaiswal may be included in the Indian team as a backup opener for the Champions Trophy. With Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s form being inconsistent, Jaiswal’s performance could be a factor in the team’s selection. However, it would be wise for him to play some ODI matches before the Champions Trophy to gain experience.

ODI Series against England

The Indian team will play a three-match ODI series against England before the Champions Trophy, which will be crucial for their preparation. The team for the ODI series is likely to be similar to the one for the Champions Trophy. Yashasvi Jaiswal may get a chance to make his ODI debut in this series. The BCCI Selection Committee meeting is scheduled for January 11, where the team for the Champions Trophy will be finalized. The ICC has set a deadline of January 12 for all teams to announce their squads for the Champions Trophy.
