‘India’s situation could be worse than Sri Lanka’

Former Chief Minister of Occupied Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has predicted that the situation in India could be worse than in Sri Lanka.

Talking to political activists in a consultative meeting, Mufti said that the way in which sectarian riots are being fanned in India, if it is not stopped, the time is not far when India’s situation could be worse than that of Sri Lanka.

He said that violence and sectarian riots against Muslims were being fomented in India under the supervision of the government which would prove to be dangerous for the entire country.

Mehbooba Mufti said that the secular constitution of India is being violated while the minority population especially Muslims are being subjected to daily violence but neither the government nor the court is taking any notice of it.

The former chief minister said that the manner in which the Supreme Court had taken notice of the sessions law was a welcome development as the BJP government was using the law for its own political purposes and against its political rivals.
