India’s First Female Superhero Film ‘Mahakali’ Unveils Divine Lead Look

The first official look for Bhumi Shetty as the lead in ‘Mahakali’ has been unveiled. The upcoming film is set within the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). Makers released the powerful poster this week.

‘Mahakali’ is touted as India’s first female superhero movie. It marks the third installment in director Prasanth Varma’s expanding cinematic universe.

The poster reveals Shetty’s character adorned with vermillion on her forehead, elaborate gold ornaments, and a distinct divine aura. This visual aligns with the mythological theme of the film.

Pooja Aparna Kolluru is directing ‘Mahakali’. Prasanth Varma, known for his work on ‘Hanuman’, penned both the story and screenplay for this project.

Earlier, the first look of Akshay Khanna as Shukracharya in ‘Mahakali’ was also revealed. The film aims for a wide audience. It will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.

The production is utilizing IMAX 3D format for its release. The story is primarily set against a Bengali backdrop.

Currently, 50 percent of the film’s shooting has been completed. Filming is ongoing in Hyderabad, where a grand set has been constructed.
