India’s 15-Member Test Squad Announced for England Tour Under Shubman Gill’s Captaincy

India’s cricket team is gearing up for a crucial tour of England next month, with the first Test match kicking off on June 20. The team will play a five-match Test series, marking a significant milestone as it will be their first Test series without Rohit Sharma, who has recently retired.

A new captain is expected to be announced before the series begins. According to reports, young opener Shubman Gill is likely to take the reins, with Yashasvi Jaiswal as his deputy. Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness concerns seem to be ruling him out of contention for the captaincy.

Potential Team Lineup

The team is expected to undergo some changes with Sai Sudharsan likely to get a chance. He impressed many with his performance in IPL 2024 and could open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. There’s also a strong possibility of Shreyas Iyer making a comeback to the team. However, fast bowler Mohammed Shami might be left out.

The fast bowling attack could feature Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Harshit Rana. The team is likely to include only two spinners in the 15-member squad. A group of around 20 players might be selected for the tour, with the remaining players serving as travel reserves.
