Indian Women’s Team Wins Big, Beats UAE by 78 Runs in T20 Asia Cup 2024
The Indian women’s cricket team is on a roll in the T20 Asia Cup 2024, having won two consecutive matches to move into the semi-finals. In their latest match against the UAE team, India won by a whopping 78 runs.
UAE Batsmen Flop
The UAE team, chasing a target of 202 runs, got off to a poor start. Tirtha Satish was the first to depart, scoring just 4 runs. Renitha Rajitha and Samaira Dharanidharka managed to score 7 runs each, but the team struggled to build momentum. Despite efforts from Kavisha Egodage and captain Isha Oja, who scored 38 and 40 runs respectively, the UAE team could only manage 123 runs in 20 overs.
Indian Bowlers Shine
From India’s perspective, Deepti Sharma took the most wickets, with two scalps for 23 runs in 4 overs. Renuka Singh, Tanuja, Pooja Vastrakar, and Radha Yadav each took one wicket.
Harmanpreet Kaur Shines with Half-Century
In their innings, India’s batswomen performed exceptionally well. Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh both scored half-centuries, with Harmanpreet scoring 66 runs and Richa scoring 64 runs. Opener Shefali Verma contributed 37 runs, while Jemima Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana failed to make a significant impact. India scored 201 runs in 20 overs, with Richa Ghosh receiving the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance.
