Bollywood actors Sunil Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh, and Ahan Shetty were prominent figures at the Indian Navy’s Half Marathon event held in Mumbai on Sunday. The event aimed to strengthen the bond between the Navy and the city’s residents.
Hundreds of runners gathered for the 8th edition of the marathon. The presence of Bollywood stars and Western Naval Command officials highlighted the community outreach efforts.
Actors Riteish Deshmukh and Sunil Shetty officially flagged off the 10-kilometer segment of the WNC Half Marathon 2025. They were joined by Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Krishna Swaminathan of the Western Naval Command.
Riteish Deshmukh addressed the media about the event’s significance. “For years, Mumbai and the Navy have had an unbreakable bond,” Deshmukh stated. “Indian shipbuilding started in Mumbai. This Navy program aims to connect with the people of Mumbai and reduce distance.”
He also emphasized public health. Deshmukh noted that 23,000 people participated in the marathon, urging everyone to prioritize fitness and engage in sports.

Sunil Shetty also spoke to the media, expressing gratitude to naval officers. “I want to thank the Naval officers for what they have given us,” Shetty said. “A 21-kilometer marathon is about stamina and fitness, but the marathon our officers run every day for us is about courage and sacrifice.”
He continued, “It has no finish line. Such marathons should happen often. Events like these bring people closer.”

Ahan Shetty, son of Sunil Shetty, also participated in the event. He appeared on stage to help flag off the marathon, further amplifying the star presence.
