Indian director Kumar Sahani has died

Kumar Sahani, the popular director of Hindi film Parallel, has passed away. He breathed his last in Calcutta on Saturday. He was 83 years old at the time of his death. Sahani rose to prominence in the world of Hindi films from other film genres.

He has been working in film production for almost six decades. Among these, Maya Darpan, Tarang, Kheyal Gatha and Kasba are his notable films.

Note that Kumar Sahani was born on December 7, 1940 in Larkana, Sindh (now Pakistan). After independence, his family moved to Mumbai.

Sahani later joined the Pune Film Institute (FTII). During this time, Ritvik Ghatak was his teacher. Sahani also acknowledged Hrithik’s influence on his films later in life. Sahani received a scholarship from the French government.
He went to France and got the opportunity to work as an assistant director to the famous director Robert Bresson. The name of this film is “A Gentle Woman”.

In 1997, Sawhney’s film Char Adhyaya was released. The death of Kumar Sahani casts a shadow over the film world. Apart from the fans, several Bollywood and Tollypara stars also remembered the director.
