Deepti Sharma, a prominent Indian women’s cricket player and Deputy Superintendent of Police in Uttar Pradesh, has fallen victim to theft. Her friend, Arushi Goyal, is accused of stealing from Deepti’s home. According to DCP Sonam Kumar, Deepti’s brother, Sumit Sharma, reported the incident to the police.
Arushi, a junior player who has played with Deepti, allegedly took advantage of their friendship to borrow 2.5 million rupees. When it was time to return the money, Arushi refused, claiming she couldn’t pay it back. Deepti then banned Arushi from visiting her flat.
While Deepti was away, Arushi asked to enter the flat to collect some belongings. However, when Sumit arrived, he found the lock had been changed. Arushi admitted to changing the lock, raising suspicions. CCTV footage revealed Arushi had previously entered the flat without permission. She’s now accused of stealing $2,500, gold jewelry, and cash from Deepti’s home.
The Uttar Pradesh police have filed a case and begun investigating. Deepti and Arushi’s friendship began in junior cricket, with Arushi working as a junior clerk at Agra Cantt railway station. The case has sparked a probe into the alleged fraud, with DCP Sonam Kumar overseeing the investigation.
