India’s cricket team is off to England, marking a new era under Shubman Gill’s captaincy. This test series is a chance for the team to bounce back from recent losses.
Team Preparations
The team will have a 10-day training camp and an intra-squad match before the first test on June 20. Some players, like KL Rahul, are already in England.
World Test Championship
India missed out on the World Test Championship 2025 final, which will be between South Africa and Australia. This England tour is their first series in the new WTC cycle.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted:

Before leaving for England, the team showed confidence. Shubman Gill looked ready for the challenge in a press conference.
Some players were in high spirits, with Kuldeep Yadav and Rishabh Pant joking around. Rishabh Pant even made a humorous comment about Rohit Sharma:
Question – where is Rohit Sharma?
Rishabh Pant – Rohit bhai Garden mein ghum rahe hain, unke Garden ki yaad to aayegi (He’s enjoying in the Garden, will miss his Garden). 😂❤️pic.twitter.com/a5x4tlAeYq
