Indian opening batsman Abhishek Sharma made history on the Zimbabwe tour by becoming the first Indian player to score a century and take a wicket in the same T20 International series.
Abhishek Achieves Unique Feat in T20 International
The young Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, has taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe, with the latest win coming by 10 wickets. Abhishek Sharma, who got a chance to debut in international cricket in the first match of the series, played a brilliant century innings in the second match and followed it up with a wicket in the fourth match, becoming the first Indian player to achieve this feat in T20 International.
First Indian Player to Join Elite Club
Abhishek has become a part of the special club of all-time great players Lala Amarnath and Kapil Dev, who had also achieved this feat in Tests and ODIs respectively. Lala Amarnath was the first player to score a century and take a wicket in the same series in Tests, against England in 1933, while Kapil Dev did it in the 1983 ODI World Cup. Abhishek’s achievement is a testament to his skill and potential as a player.
