Indian Authorities Recover One Black Box from Crashed Air India Flight

Investigators in India have found one of the two black boxes from the Air India plane that crashed. They are now searching for the second one. The black boxes will help figure out what caused the crash.

The plane went down after taking off from Ahmedabad airport in the state of Gujarat. There were 169 Indians, 53 Brits, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian on board, along with 2 pilots and 10 crew members. So far, 241 people have been confirmed dead, and only 1 person survived.

The crash happened when the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane hit a medical college building. The plane was 12 years old and had just taken off when it crashed. The impact was severe, causing significant damage to the building. At least 5 medical students and 4 resident doctors’ family members are missing, and 50 people were injured.

Experts say the black boxes will reveal what went wrong during the flight. The boxes contain cockpit conversations and flight data that will help investigators understand the cause of the crash. However, analyzing the data will take several days.

The Indian government’s aviation accident investigation agency has started a formal inquiry into the crash. Kelly Ortberg, CEO of Boeing, has spoken to the Air India chairman and offered full support for the investigation.

The search for the second black box is ongoing. Once both boxes are found, investigators can start piecing together what happened during the flight. The cause of the crash is still unknown, but the black boxes should provide some answers.
