India Suffers Crushing Defeat in
The Indian women’s cricket team faced a disappointing loss in the second ODI match against Australia, held in Brisbane. The Australian team dominated the game, scoring 371 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. In response, the Indian team managed to score only 249 runs, resulting in a 122-run defeat. This loss marks the Australian women’s team’s largest victory against India at home in terms of runs.
Indian Bowling Fails to Impress
After winning the toss, the Australian captain chose to bat first. The opening pair of Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Woll provided a solid start, forming a 130-run partnership. Litchfield scored 60 runs before being dismissed, while Ellyse Perry and Georgia Woll continued to accelerate the run rate. Georgia Woll played an excellent inning of 105 runs, and Ellyse Perry scored 105 runs in 75 balls. Beth Mooney also contributed with an aggressive 56-run inning.
The Australian team’s total of 371 runs in 50 overs is the highest score against the Indian women’s team in ODI cricket history. This is also only the third instance in women’s ODI cricket where two batsmen have scored centuries in an inning against the Indian team.
Indian Batswomen Fail to Deliver
When the Indian team attempted to chase the target of 372 runs, they got off to a poor start. Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol were dismissed with the score at 45. Mandhana scored only 9 runs, while Harleen Deol managed 12 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 38 runs, while Richa Ghosh played a notable inning of 54 runs. Meenu Mani contributed 46 runs. Annabel Sutherland took the most wickets for Australia, with a total of 4 dismissals.
