The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian women’s cricket team for their upcoming England tour. The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will play five T20Is and three ODIs against England in June and July.
The selection committee’s choices have raised some eyebrows, particularly the decision to include Shafali Verma only in the T20I squad. Verma hasn’t played an ODI since October 2024. In contrast, players like Richa Ghosh, Yastika Bhatia, and Harleen Deol have made it to both the T20I and ODI squads.
Squad Changes and Notable Omissions
Kashvi Gautam, a 22-year-old player who represented Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League, has been left out of the team. Her replacement, fast bowler Saiali Satghare, has earned a recall to the ODI squad. Satghare will be joined by pacers like Shree Charan and Kranti Gaur in the pace attack department.
Team Lineup
The ODI squad includes:
- Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain)
- Smriti Mandhana (Vice-Captain)
- Pratika Rawal
- Harleen Deol
- Jemimah Rodrigues
- Richa Ghosh
- Yastika Bhatia
- Tejal Hasabnis
- Deepti Sharma
- Sneha Rana
- Shree Charan
- Shuchi Upadhyay
- Amanjot Kaur
- Arundhati Reddy
- Kranti Gaur
- Saiali Satghare
The T20I squad is similar, with Shafali Verma added to the lineup.
