It has been claimed in many media reports that Jasprit Bumrah will captain the India team in the three-match T20 series against Ireland. Now that BCCI secretary Jai Shah has confirmed that Bumrah is fully fit and will play in the series against Ireland. This has made it even more clear that only Bumrah will captain the India team in the series against Ireland.

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has reportedly suggested a week-long camp after the T20 series against the West Indies to prepare for the Asian Cup. Meanwhile, on August 18, 20 and 23, the Indian team has to play three T20 matches against Ireland. In such a situation, Hardik Pandya may be in the Asian Cup preparation camp and in his place some other player may captain in the T20 series against Ireland.

Earlier, it was claimed in various media reports that Suryakumar Yadav, the vice-captain of the T20 team, would be seen leading the team in the T20 series against Ireland. It was also said that the reason behind this is that if Shreyas Iyer gets fit, it will be difficult for Surya to get a place in the Asian Cup squad, because this time the Asian Cup will be played in ODI format.
