India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match broke all records, became the most watched match

Dubai The ICC Men’s T20 World received a record audience worldwide and more than 1.67 million people watched it on television. The tournament, which took place five years later, was broadcast for almost 10,000 hours on television and digital platforms in 200 countries. The audience increased in India, Pakistan, England, Australia and the United States. The India-Pakistan match was watched for over 15.9 billion minutes on the Star India network in India. The match became the most watched match in T20 Internationals history.

Previously, the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final match between India and West Indies was the most watched. Despite India’s early departure, the tournament in India was watched for more than 112 billion minutes on television. ICC CEO Geoff Allardyce said: “We are delighted that the tournament has received so many spectators. This shows how popular T20 cricket is.

In the UK, viewership for India-Pakistan matches grew 60 percent, while overall market viewership grew seven percent. For the first time in Pakistan, the tournament was broadcast on three channels PTV, ARY and Ten Sports and the audience increased by 7.3 percent compared to 2016.
