India Names Playing XI for England Test Series Under Shubman Gill

The stage is set for a thrilling showdown between India and England as the Indian cricket team gets ready to embark on a five-match Test series in England next month. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 18-member squad for the tour, and fans are eagerly waiting to see how the team will shape up.

The first Test match is scheduled to start on June 20, and speculation is rife about the possible playing eleven. One likely scenario is that Sai Sudarshan and Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the innings, followed by captain Shubman Gill at number three. KL Rahul is expected to bat at number four, a position that was previously held by another player.

Rishabh Pant, the team’s vice-captain, will don the wicketkeeping gloves and bat at number five. Despite a lackluster performance in the 2025 IPL, Pant is expected to make a significant impact in England. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who impressed in Australia, might bat at number six, while spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja could take the number seven spot.

The bowling department will likely be led by Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Prasidh Krishna. Arshdeep Singh is also part of the squad but might have to warm the bench for the first Test. The probable playing eleven includes:

  • Shubman Gill (Captain)
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal
  • Sai Sudarshan
  • KL Rahul
  • Rishabh Pant (Wicketkeeper)
  • Nitish Kumar Reddy
  • Ravindra Jadeja
  • Shardul Thakur
  • Mohammed Siraj
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Prasidh Krishna

As the team prepares to take on England, one thing is clear – this series is going to be a treat for cricket fans worldwide. With a mix of experienced players and young talent, the Indian team is ready to put up a strong fight against their opponents.
